To be Windows Vista capable, computers must have a modern processor (whatever that is), 512MB or RAM and a graphics processor capable of supporting DirectX 9. Capable essentially means good enough to run Windows Vista Home Basic. However, a computer meeting these system requirements would not be fully capable of using all Windows Vista capabilities. In fact, the operating system scales performance, particularly graphics, based on the hardware.
